Privacy policy

Last Updated: June 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Village Technology Services, LLC (“Village,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Village websites, apps, text-messaging services, and related tools (the “Platform”). It works together with our Terms of Service and Terms of Use.

1. Introduction

Village operates a marketplace that connects homeowners (“Customers”) with independent service professionals (“Providers”), including Providers aged 16–17 who use the Platform with parental/guardian consent. This policy applies to all of them, as well as to visitors and people who contact us. It is effective as of June 30, 2026.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide

  • Registration: name, email, phone number, date of birth, password (stored hashed) or Google/Apple sign-in, and your role.
  • Provider profile: bio, business name, photos, neighborhood and GPS coordinates, service-area zip codes, availability, earnings goals, bid settings, wallet balance and transaction history, Stripe account identifier, and — optionally, for student verification — school name and supporting documents.
  • Customer details: neighborhood, address, and location used to match and deliver services.
  • Bookings, quotes, and invoices: contact details, service details, line items, and notes.
  • Messages: texts you send to the Village number and your conversation with our AI concierge.
  • Payments: processed by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers.

b. Information collected automatically

IP address, device and browser type, operating system, pages viewed, actions and timestamps, approximate location from IP, and analytics events (via PostHog), collected using cookies and similar technologies.

c. Information from third parties

Profile data from Google/Apple sign-in, payment confirmations from Stripe, and public business ratings from Google Places.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • operate the marketplace and match Customers with Providers (including AI-assisted classification);
  • process payments, payouts, and subscriptions via Stripe;
  • send transactional messages (lead notifications, provider cards, quotes, invoices, reminders, and account notices);
  • verify Provider identity and, optionally, student status;
  • improve our matching, AI, and the Platform, and analyze usage;
  • comply with legal obligations (including tax reporting and 1099 issuance);
  • enforce our Terms; and
  • detect and prevent fraud and abuse.

4. How We Share Your Information

With other users

Provider profile information (name, bio, photo, ratings, service areas) is visible to Customers. A Customer’s name and address are shared with a matched Provider so the service can be performed.

With service providers (sub-processors)

We share data with vendors that help us operate the Platform. Each is bound to use the data only to provide services to us:

For legal reasons and business transfers

We may share information to comply with law, respond to lawful requests (such as court orders or subpoenas), report taxes, protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We may also share with your consent.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. AI and Automated Decision-Making

We use AI (including models from Anthropic) to classify the text of Customer service requests and to generate conversational responses. The message text and conversation history are processed to determine service category, urgency, and location, which influences which Providers are matched to a request — an automated decision that affects matching. AI can make mistakes. You can contact us at will@jobsonvillage.com to request human review of an AI-driven decision.

6. Text Messaging Privacy

We collect your phone number to send and receive text messages through our messaging provider, Blooio. Message types include transactional and service messages (lead notifications, provider cards, quotes, invoices, reminders, and account notices) and conversational replies from our AI concierge. We store message content to deliver the service, resolve disputes, and improve quality.

  • message frequency varies based on your activity;
  • reply STOP to any message to opt out; reply HELP for help;
  • message and data rates may apply;
  • we obtain consent when you text the Village number (+1 (404) 918-2012) or provide your number during signup; and
  • we do not share your phone number for third-party marketing.

7. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above:

  • Account data: while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion.
  • Financial records: about 7 years, to meet tax and legal obligations (e.g., IRS/1099).
  • Message logs: up to 12 months for dispute resolution.
  • Analytics data: aggregated/anonymized after about 24 months.
  • Lead data: up to 12 months, then anonymized.

You can request deletion at any time, subject to data we must retain for legal reasons.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access: request a copy of your personal data.
  • Correction: update information in your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Deletion: request account deletion (some data is retained for legal reasons).
  • Messaging opt-out: reply STOP to any text message.
  • Analytics opt-out: you can limit analytics via your browser/device controls; contact us for help.
  • Do Not Sell/Share: we do not sell or share personal information — no action needed.
  • Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
  • California residents: you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know, delete, correct, and opt out, and you may use an authorized agent.

To exercise these rights, email will@jobsonvillage.com with the subject “Privacy Request.”

9. Children’s Privacy and Minor Providers

The Platform is not directed to children under 16. Providers aged 16–17 may use the Platform only with verified parental/guardian consent (a co-signature agreement). We collect date of birth to verify eligibility. A parent/guardian of a Minor Provider may review, correct, or request deletion of the teen’s data. If we learn we collected personal data from someone under 16 without the required consent, we will delete it promptly. This is not a service covered by COPPA (which applies to children under 13); we nonetheless apply heightened protections for users aged 16–17.

10. Data Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, hashed passwords, webhook signature verification, and role-based access controls, along with periodic security reviews. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Location Data

We collect approximate and precise location (including GPS coordinates and service-area zip codes) to match Customers and Providers geographically and to deliver services. You can update your location details in account settings, and parents of Minor Providers can help manage location sharing.

12. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and sessions, and analytics cookies (PostHog) that you can disable. We do not use third-party advertising cookies and do not engage in cross-site tracking for advertising.

13. Where Your Data Is Processed

Village operates in the United States and stores data on U.S.-based infrastructure. If you access the Platform from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes we will provide notice (for example, by email or in-app notice). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
